Today's crew is specialized in metal assembly for reinforced concrete.
Metal for the beams under the bedroom and the terrace are in place.
The bedroom pentagon is now clearly visible.
Beams connect at this node in the very center of the pentagon.
For durability, the metal reinforcement for the beams needs to be entirely engulfed in concrete. 2cm x 2cm dice of mortar to be used as support under the metal will be cut out of these slabs "like tofu" says Andi.
The evacuation pipe for the rain water coming from the roof needs to be closer to the steel column which will be sitting on a steel base plate exactly on top of the 4 vertical rebars which is the top of the foundation. To this end, two 90 degree pipe connectors will be integrated inside the metal of the beam. This will be repeated at the 5 corners of the bedroom pentagon.
L-shaped toilet room (same view as a couple fo days ago) with diagonal metal reinforcement for concrete beam going across.
Leaving enough wiggle room for the coconut trees that will provide shade to the terrace. To avoid cracks in the concrete we will use wood or gravel to create the flat connection between the trunk and the final slab.
Forms for the cantilevered underside of the final slab are put in place.
Glad to see the sun-protected Hut is used by the crew as resting station.
