We all have places we like to be, I mean in our homes: A favourite chair or room, the garden or alfresco area. I certainly have my own and depending on the situation will take the spot most suited to the moment and simply enjoy being there.
One of my favourite spots is my hammock which I have set up in a part of my alfresco area; it's surrounded by plants, is shaded from the sun - important in Australia as the sun has a mighty kick - and it takes advantage of the cooling breezes that waft in; perfect for warm days and lazy afternoon naps or reading my books and listening to music. It's a good spot.
I also have a spot in my theatre room; my partner and I have a spot each to be honest, and sometimes we occupy the same spot...you know...when...well, never mind about that. I like that spot a lot though.
There's also another spot in my firepit area which is mine - it's an unspoken rule - and in the winter months I can be found poking the fire with a stick from that spot, staring into the flames and allowing the pop and crackle of the fire lull me into a near-trance. It's one of the best spots I know.
I have other spots too, there's one amongst my fruit trees where I've set up a couple of benches; filtered light comes through the trees, the rustle of the leaves and the smell of nature around me...I like to read there, or snooze. I feel really comfortable at home, am lucky to have a very comfortable home, and I love my spots...I deserve them too.
In the image you can see my lovely little cat Cleo in one of her spots. I have to say, as good as I am at spot-finding, she's the all time master of it and, if I'm totally honest about it, every spot is her spot, the whole house. It's funny how she picks them really, I wonder what her criteria is or if she just turns wherever she feels like a nap into a good spot. Probably the latter.
Anyway, I figure you've got a spot...in your house I mean. What and where is it and why do you like that spot so much? Feel free to share in the comments below.
