Lost and alone in Melbourne airport

There I was, sitting at a table sipping on a coffee, nibbling on a donut and listening to my audio book. It had been a big weekend and I was flying home, a late 21:30 flight. At least it was supposed to be 21:30. The airline delayed it, something to do with Sydney being down to one runway and flights out of there being delayed which delayed flights everywhere else. Anyway, My flight would leave an hour later. I wasn't pleased because the airport I was flying into has a 23:00 curfew. I hoped it'd make it or the plane would be diverted.

The book was excellent, one by Author Raymond E Feist, and the coffee and donut were good too - donuts are a rare treat for me - but eventually they called up my flight and off I went.

That's when things went pear-shaped, meaning that's when things got fucked up.

You see, I had my Samsung earbuds case on the table and had forgotten to pick it up when I left. I know, fucken stupid right?

I was at the boarding gate when I realised and they'd just called for boarding and I didn't have time to go back to the lost and found (wherever that might have been) to enquire if my earbuds case had been turned in. Of course, I have zero faith in human beings so expected the case would have been picked up and pocketed anyway...when the person realised there were no earbuds in there I assume it would have been discarded. People are assholes mostly.

What an idiot right? Me, not whomever found the case sitting on the table. I pocketed the earbuds, those you see pictured, and boarded the plane. While in-flight I bought a new set of the same earbuds online as a replacement. I didn't even check if I could buy the case simply assuming that I wouldn't be able to.

I've thought about my earbuds case, lost and alone in Melbourne airport and kick myself for being such an idiot but things happen right? I mean, we all forget things now and then - this one cost me some money.
