"Half the world is composed of people who have something to say and can't, and the other half who have nothing to say and keep on saying it." - Robert Frost
Most of us interact and communicate with other people and exactly how it happens doesn't really differ that much between all of us.
We talk, use body language, phones, computers, writing, videos, touch and various other forms of communication; it's changed somewhat over the years but it's still the same thing basically, person-to-person communication. (I think we should bring back smoke signals, but I'm probably in the minority who wants that.)
Anyway, once communication is over, say, when two people have been conversing and they're parting ways, it's not uncommon to round out the communication in some way.
"Goodbye, have a nice day," is one such thing and the more informal, "catch you later," is another one - the latter is quite popular here. Remember the line, "may the Force be with you," well, that's one that became popular due to the Star Wars movies.
Such words are an offering of good wishes, a form of farewell and a nice little way to end a pleasant interaction. We do it on emails and in letters too. I use *kind regards" a lot in my work emails for instance.
The other day I heard one that totally sums up today's society and I thought it was dumb, but also a little funny.
May your phone charger cable reach the couch
How typical a comment is that these days!
I mean, we've all been there...sitting on the couch on our phones and the battery goes low. Should the charger cable not reach the couch...well, big problems! So, the comment seems quite relevant, a different way to wish the person good wishes and all the best I suppose and typical in contemporary society.
How do you end in-person conversations, emails and letters?; obviously differently depending on the situation (work, personal and social for instance) and with different people. But do you have a go-to phrase, word or comment and how does it differ in different situations.
If you want to tell me about it or comment generally you know what to do below.
