Between writing this post and it going live on the interwebs I might have died...but it's unlikely.
- Me -
The last time I was sick was in mid-2021; I'd flown to Brisbane for work and after a week of so was due to fly home on the Friday night...but my flight was shifted to the Saturday morning. The day after I got home I got Covid-19. I blame the change in flights because had I flown on Friday night I probably wouldn't have run into the filthy disease carrying fucker who passed Covid-19 to me. Ok, that's probably not the case but I'm sticking to that premise. Anyway, I got sick again last week.
Dying but not quite dead
I got a terrible case of man-flu, the worst illness known to humankind.
I was on my death bed, mere minutes from expiring completely and going to hell, in agonising pain and abject misery. Everyone knows that man-flu is the worst illness a person can have...nothing comes close and I had the worst case ever!
Believe me? Well, if you're a bloke you will and if you're a woman...well, you're probably rolling your eyes and feeling no sympathy at all.
If I'm honest I wasn't that sick at all; I had a bit of a head cold and a scratchy throat and I went to work and did all the other things I'd normally do. Also, if I'm honest, I used the opportunity to gain some sympathy and some nursing from my partner...what good is having man-flu if one doesn't make out it's way worse than it is in a bid to get some nursing action...my partner might even have a special nurses outfit for just this occasion...I'll not be showing any photos though. 😉
There's some who might wish I'd have died, (sorry to disappoint), but there was really no chance of that happening; I took some Demazin pills and sucked on some Difflam lozenges and no further man-flu mitigation treatments were needed. Due to a medical condition I have my immune system functions sub-optimally and I tend to be more susceptible to illness like this and get them a little worse as my immune system no longer fights as hard as it used to. It's a complication I have to be mindful of and I take steps to work around it but generally when I get sick I don't die. (I have died a few times though, but came good after a while.)
It's been over three years since I've been sick and it came at a time I least wanted it to considering some other things I've recently been doing but whilst sick, at least I'm not dead.
How about you? Have you ever had the worst illness known to humankind, man-flu? Have you ever been so sick that you died? Do you have any home remedies for the common cold and flu symptoms? Have you ever had to nurse a man with man-flu? Feel free to comment if you'd like.
