This poem came from my reflection on things that exist beyond human discrimination. Disappointment is one of the few emotions that unites everyone, no matter their status, belief, or background. It is a silent rope that ties humanity together.
Rope Of Disappointment
A rope that binds us together,
both poor and rich,
students and teachers,
believers and unbelievers.
As vast as the ocean,
as continuous as a circle,
silent suffocation caused by unfulfilled expectations.
A universal bond that links humanity
regardless of status or background.
The rope tightens like a knot of frustration,
pulling each figure
into struggle, resignation, or despair.
The burden we all pretend not to feel,
yet a universal language
spoken by every human heart.
This poem accompanies a sculptural concept I will be working on. To the poor, disappointment often feels familiar ā almost like a daily companion. But to the rich, it can arrive like a sudden shock. Yet in the end, both are tied by the same rope of expectation and reality.
