For far too long our community has been isolated in our own echo chamber clapping ourselves on the back about being "better" while still slowly converting to make the same mistakes elongate to their forebear of center-based platforms. The tales of freedom, of decentralization, and of fairness are sound very good in themselves; in reality, however, these are very common gatekeeping, centralized powers staring down to the same paws.
You say it is empowerment when new arrivals are left out to dry and only the whale crowd dictates what stands and falls? Through creation, you say it should be appreciated, yet that validation is often granted with mediocre content—lore at its contentment instead of demonstrating the system. You boast of being the future, but how is it the future if you cannot hear the voices that refuse to sing your song?
Take the chair, Hive. It's time to stop using slogans as excuses for hiding. Communities grow when they're willing to accept critiques without the slightest hint of fragility; they welcome disruption as opposed to suppressing it. Blockchain technology doesn't lie, but communities do—when they pretend that all is well while every crack is,
popping up everywhere. If Hive really does want to matter, it must first get a mirror and face uncomfortable truths: decentralization is not only about code; it is about the culture. And culture is where Hive is today failing.
