Max has been the campaign manager of Duke for years now. Due to his ruggedness with the job, Duke was able to defeat his rivals both at the primaries and in the general elections.
Usually Duke releases huge sums of money to the office of Max for smooth operations. This had enabled Max to go about his politicking with ease. Now, Duke has been elected to represent his people for a term of four years. Three years into his tenure Duke has literarily underperformed with many party loyalists poised to challenge him in th coming primaries. The people too are not even feeling the impact of his representation.
The primaries was scheduled to take place at the state Secretariat and as usual, Duke was expected to vie again. He began by paying nocturnal visits to his party bigwigs. But the reactions of many of them towards him was not palatable.
Duke thought of what to do so as to sell himself once again to the power brokers. He decided to throw his campaign manager under the bus so as to brighten his chances in the forthcoming primaries. Max was thus sacrificed to portray him as the person not greasing the palms of many party loyalists.
This latest moves by Duke came to many as surprising owing to the fact that Max has been the engine of Duke's campaign for years. Others however saw it as a desperate moves by a sinking politicians trying to save his political career.
Fed up with this antics, Max left the ranks of Duke and joined forces with his major rival. At the primaries proper, Duke was floored while his major challenger who surreptitiously recruited Max won by a landslide.
