It was a chilly winter night. Charles sauntered in from work and went straight to the bathroom to have a hot bath. The water felt too good to resist its soothing and calming effects. Thus, Charles spent more time than necessary in the bath. Due to how cold he felt when he came into his apartment, he forgot that he did not lock the entrance door properly.
When he finally felt that he had bathed enough, he crept out of the bathtub and wrapped his body with a white towel. He reached out for his cream and started applying same all over his body. It was then that he started hearing strange voices within the compound. At first he thought that his neighbours were the ones making the noise.
Soon, it became clear to him that it wasn't his neghbours afterall. It then means that a total stranger or strangers had evaded their compound.
He wanted to peep through the window to know what exactly was happening. But then he heard a loud bang on his entrance door. That was when he knew that he was in for a rough ride. Robbers had gained entrance into his apartment!
As a precautionary measure, Charles dived for his pyjamas and covered himself. Then he tiptoed and had to hide inside the wardrobe. From there he peeped to know who they are and how many they are.
"Hey, who's in there?" One of the intruders echoed as he bossed himself around the room. Charles kept mute. He was as silent as a grave. He must conceal his presence otherwise those robbers may blow up his brains.
He watched as they searched everywhere, collecting anything that tickles their fancy - wrist watches, gold chains, handsets and his wallet. Charles remained silent as they loved from one point of the house to another.
At the end of the day, they came to his reading wardrobe and too k some cash which Charles had withdrawn to use and pay his rent. He almost let out a yell but had to restrain himself with a heat difficulty.
Having ransacked everywhere and collected what they felt was precious to them, the robbers had to beat a retreat.
