Magic is a powerful force that has existed since the beginning of time. It was the essence from which the gods of light and darkness were born.
Luminarion, the God of Light, realized how empty and dark the universe was, he conjured a way to bind magic to matter and created the first planets. Then he infused some of his own energy into flesh, giving birth to the first humans.
And then he spread them throughout the cosmos.
In the vastness of the universe, one celestial body shines with such radiance that it has captivated the very gods themselves. Celestis, a world of awe-inspiring beauty, stood as a testament to the gods’ divine craftsmanship.
Enchanted forests with emerald canopies that provide a haven for both magical and earthly creatures whisper old mysteries over their luscious terrain. Majestic mountains rise like guardians of the heavens, their peaks caressed by clouds and rivers, resembling silvery veins of shining liquid, running across the landscape.
Humans thrived and prospered on Celestis in harmony with their environment, but underneath the surface lied a profound story of eternal struggle. The primordial gods, Luminarion and Maligore, gods of light and dark, were perpetually fighting for dominion over one another, and their struggle threatened the balance of the universe itself.
They witnessed how the war afflicted and corrupted the mortals and inspired them to commit vile things in their name.
But the gods themselves cannot interfere in the mortal realms; they can, however, choose a champion among them. All those who are gifted in the arcane arts can be called to be their servants and become empowered to lead their legions into battle and wield their powers.
Those who would align with the light and whose souls were pure would be chosen by Luminarion. On the other hand, Maligore would recruit those who would side with evil and whose souls were tainted beyond redemption.
The war ravaged the entire world for a hundred years, nearly plunging it into endless darkness. The only remaining sanctuary of light is Marvellon, and it remains a beacon of hope for those who are good and without sin.
Sensing it’s impending destruction at the hands of Maligore’s legions, Luminarion gifted the mortals of Marvellon with Aetherium, a powerful crystal in the shape of an eye, magically etched in the ruler’s crown.
The Aetherium acts as a conduit for Luminarion’s energy, channeling it’s benevolent magic throughout the kingdom. The eye’s immense power enables the ruler to act as a steward of the magical realm, ensuring that it remains pure and untainted. With its guidance, the ruler is granted wisdom and insight, making just and compassionate decisions for the benefit of the kingdom and its inhabitants.
But this alone was not enough to keep them safe from Maligore; the wearer would need to sacrifice some of its own magical essence and fuse it with the Aetherium. It would magnify its own powers enough to maintain a magical barrier and protect the kingdom. Some call it Aurorion, the shield of the undying sun, and it stands as a radiant bastion, a luminous barrier that encircles and safeguards the realm of Marvellon. It is believed that as long as the bond between Luminarion and its ruler exists, no dark magic can pierce it, and so it has been for many years. To protect it’s borders, they created giants of stone infused with magic to serve as it’s guardians, keeping all of Marvellon’s inhabitants safe.
Surrounding the lands of Marvellon lie the Black Forest. It was once known as Evergreen Forest; its tall, ancient trees were home to countless creatures, and the soft glow of fireflies illuminated the night sky. However, an ominous shadow had cast its presence over the forest, as a malevolent force was spreading like a dark stain, threatening to destroy the very heart of Marvellon. It is said to be the lair of the shadow sorceress Nyxara, Maligore’s queen.
