In September 1917, Russia was proclaimed a republic. More than half a year has passed since the overthrow of tsarism, and the provisional government still did not solve the question of the political system.

The deep political crisis caused by the rebellion of General Kornilov and the attempt to establish a military dictatorship led to the strengthening of the influence of the Bolsheviks.
Proclaiming the republic, the head of the government, Alexander Kerensky, hoped to strengthen his position. At the same time, a directory was being created, which included Kerensky himself and key ministers.
But the measures were too late and soon the October Revolution took place. The Bolsheviks, led by Lenin, came to power.
