Gweneivere (Gwen) browns
(17 years old at the time of her parents' death)
The trembling sounds of sword against sword spread throughout and enveloped the alpha family house, located in the heart of the town. Gwen, a beautiful light skinned teenager, and the daughter of the king and the queen suddenly jumped from her bed in response to the almost deafening sound, with her hair escaping the grasp of it's net and her leg forcefully hitting on the wooden furniture very close to her window.
She attentively peeped through the window and was ushered into a reality she never wanted to acknowledge, her eyes grew very wide while her heart's pace increased involuntarily, she could not control the tears that journeyed from her eyes down to her cheeks, the incident meant to her like her world was crumbling before her eyes. She quickly reached for the open bottle of water close to her bed, to hydrate her now dry throat from the shock. She hoped it was all a dream, and then she realized it wasn't.
Gwen had always known how jealous her Uncle (Gerry) was and how she overheard him muttering " everything you have will become mine" to himself, but she never thought or even believed that a day would come when he would pioneer a sword fight in his own brother's house.
As heartbreaking as it was, Gwen knew she needed to escape and fast, to save her own life. She then made her way to the secret chamber in the kingdom, where only she and her parents can say something about. It was a small room, a few miles away from the war environment. It had an automated control for any of the king's primary family.
The fight became so intense, Gerry and his allies set the royal family house ablaze and stood at every entrance or exit to slay anyone who tried to escape from the smoke. it seemed as though Gwen's father, the king had no one to defend him as he watched his brother, Gerry execute his plans to almost fruition,so, he came out fully transformed into his wolf, ready to fight, although he was exhausted from the effect of the smoke he had inhaled.
Gerry, on seeing this, transformed into his wolf too and proceeded to fight the king. The two brothers in their other nature were white and huge, the sight alone is glorious that one would think or rather wish they never have to resort to fighting in that form.
The queen was trapped, she couldn't escape the smoke, she had never been good with smoke of any level of density, her wolf couldn't save her too. She died in a gruesome manner, "my children are so young, they need me" was all could say before she finally gave up the ghost.
Gerry's allies must have been made some mouth watery offers because it wasn't exactly clear why they took this job personal. The large crowd who fought in the king's defense had reduced drastically as many of them were killed while so many others found their way out of the war environment.
Gerry took advantage of the king's exhausted state as though he had waited all his life for that moment. Looking deeply into the king's eyes, He could not stop himself from feeling weak and pity for the king. Then, he found a moment to reminisce on their good early days and why he hates his brother, the king in the first place.
"30 years ago, the king, who was then the heir to the throne had a good relationship with his brother, Gerry. Gerry was out-spoken and proud in the negative way, he was so vile his parents avoided having him around, they let him do things his own way no matter how bad and unfavorable his choices are.
Despite being a trouble child, Gerry loved his brother so much and would interfere in any situation threatening his sanity. He always fought the king's bullies and would arrange for his thug friends to join in the fight when things began to go off the hook. He never let anyone including his parents take advantage of the king's calm but strong nature, he was his guardian angel.
Academics is not something Gerry took seriously so he failed a number of times, until being almost 3times older than everyone in his class, he got ashamed and totally lost interest in school. Then, he stopped going to school, as if that was not enough, he joined a bad group of boys to cause menace.
Gerry and his thug friends disturbed the neighborhood until they decided to liberate themselves by keeping watch at night especially. The bad boys started their usual operation thinking it was "business as usual" when something happened; an angry crowd with each transformed into their wolves met them unawares and fought them as though they didn't mind having all the bad boys dead. The other bad boys fled leaving only Gerry to be captured.
Being the king of the pack, the power to give the final verdict on the captured was bestowed on Gerry's father, he was faced with a tough responsibility he couldn't avoid. He ordered that his freedom be seized for 10 years with hard labour. Gerry's plea was not considered as it was now obvious that the king would not take back his words. Gerry was set to face his fate but still hoping that somehow his privilege as a member of an alpha family would someday make him free.
Gerry's brother, who allowed himself to be guided had things going on fine for him, he was a penultimate year student in high school, with so many potentials. Although he knew that Gerry deserved everything meted at him, he still missed his brother and also wished there was any way out of his current situation.
Years went by, Gerry had now served his full term and was freed. He moved straight to the only home he knew but was met with a new authority, his brother had emerged the king of the pack after their father died. His brother had married his mate and had completed his master's degree in the university. Gerry was saddened with the thought that his brother could have freed him when he became the king but didn't, he could not reconcile with the thought that his brother let him "waste" all those years. So, the love started turning into hatred until there was no atom of love in his heart for his brother".
Then, once again hatred engulfed the love and pity he felt when he looked into his eyes. He reached for his sword and stabbed the helpless king, several times until his life siezed.
Gwen stayed in the secret room till everywhere was quiet you can hear your footsteps. She hurried back to the palace to find her father lying in a pool of his blood, lifeless. She found a way to the entrance of her parents' chambers to find her mother lifeless too. All she wanted was to scream her heart out but she would draw a dangerous attention to herself, she stood there for a while to probably catch the last glimpse of where all her family memories started and ended. She silently left with a heavy heart, to a place that can guarantee her freedom, safety and comfort.
