Shade has just been employed as a janitor, and the operations manager was explaining the benefits attached to her job. Fortunately, the company’s group life insurance manager was available during the onboarding meeting when life insurance cover was announced by the operations manager as one of her benefits.
Having encountered such situations before, the group life insurance manager smartly took over from the operations manager and enlightened Shade. He told her that the company will be making the annual subscription to a particular company, such that in case of any fatality while on the job, her next of kin will be credited with an agreed sum. At that point, he showed her the form, the documents, and the place to input her beneficiary.
Shade happily wrote her name, and when questioned, she anxiously replied, “No, it is my life that is insured, so I wrote my name there. All efforts to make her understand failed, and the next shocker of the day was a complete decline in her offer. Shade sadly went home murmuring life insurance, huh, life insurance hum, life insurance, life insurance.
