The day was set to hold the conference to conduct a vote on whether copyright claims apply to content created by a person using AI. The meeting started at the scheduled time, though the congressmen were barely present, some were on leave due to illness and some had to meet with their constituents.

To be honest, it did not matter, because the petition was already decided, and it is not within Congress's jurisdiction. The authorities have gone through the tedious work of delivering a verdict to the members, but it is simply a very long process for establishing the measures.
Courts generally do not know how to handle copyright laws, and rulings usually favor whichever side has the better lawyers. Companies cannot control a single output either, as they use copyrighted material as well. AI will generate content for everyone. Companies do not want that outcome, courts will be overwhelmed, and the members do not fully understand what it all means, but that is what they are working with.
