Words, words, and more words ✍️ 🖥
I began using Grammarly back in June of 2021. I can't believe that it took me so long to discover this amazing tool. After about a week of using it, I posted this video showing off what Grammarly was capable of. I was amazed at how easily my writing could be improved in such a huge way.
Grammarly automatically detects pretty much any error that appears in your writing, not just spelling. It works perfectly 99% of the time. If it ever confuses a word that I am frequently using (such as capitalizing Hive), then I can add it to my custom dictionary so that it no longer alerts me of said error. I absolutely love what Grammarly does for me and I think that it would be a gamechanger for people who wish to improve their secondary language. I have always been a proofreader, but now that job is so much less time-consuming. If you want your writing to come out looking as close to perfect as possible, then Grammarly is an essential addition to your arsenal.
I receive frequent emails from Grammarly about my writing. Things such as how consistently I write, my choice of words, tone, and other cool stats. I really like that they are able to provide me with so much information about something that I love doing daily.
Let's take a look at my most recent update about my statistics:
27 weeks straight of writing. That means I haven't missed one week since beginning to use Grammarly last June. No surprise there, According to http://hivebuzz.me/@daltono, I've got over 200 weeks of writing on Hive under my belt. I don't see any sense in slowing down anytime soon either. Why let up on something that you enjoy wholeheartedly?
My productivity is through the roof since leaving my job, my workspace works so well for me. My iMac does anything that I need it to. While my iPhone is there for anything extra that I may need. I live alone and don't have any pets to distract me. Literally, the only thing that I have to deal with occasionally are the sounds of downtown, which I've gotten good at blocking out. When I get locked in, things just flow right out of me seamlessly. Writing is now my number one focus when it comes to working. I know I write a lot, but 50k+ words in that short of an amount of time, I mean damn. You couldn't have paid me to do this back in college and schooling prior to that. Now I'm doing it because I truly enjoy it. The days of increasing my font size just to make my essays look longer are long gone. I live for this stuff.
My accuracy is a bit lower than I expected, but I can explain why. My typing speed is above average and I'm a bit reckless with my keystrokes. I am used to things like autocorrect and now Grammarly. I know that anything that I spell incorrectly, Grammarly or myself will catch during the clean-up phase. So rather than slow down my sporadic thinking, I just leave a blazing trail and sweep up the mess afterward. You wouldn't even know how unfinished my work is before going through and fixing everything. I also have to thank my father for tending to pick up on tiny errors that I somehow miss when he decides to read what I post. It is easy to get lost in the jumble of letters whenever you're writing several thousands of words daily for multiple years. Every bit of assistance that I can get helps, I do not get angry when someone corrects my mistake.
Now, this stat makes me feel really great about my writing. I strongly dislike using the same words over and over. I have a dictionary/thesaurus on my favorites bar and am constantly trying to add to my ever-expanding vocabulary. I aim to vary my choice of words and the fact that I use more unique words than 99% of Grammarly users just shows that my efforts are paying off. I strive to encourage people to look up words that I use which they have never heard of. I am not the top wordsmith in the world, but I put forth some rather large efforts to at least stand out as best as I can. If I am going to exclusively speak and write in English, then I may as well do my best to actually be great at it.
Nearly 400,000 words checked in just under half a year. This is pure madness. No wonder it is so hard for me to get new people from my life to stay active on Hive. They probably look at my blog and think, there is no way in hell that I can write as much as this dude. I get it, not everyone loves to write quite as much as I do. That doesn't mean you cannot still make a big impact here on Hive. There are so many different forms of content creation rather than just being a writer of blogs. Short-form content such as photography or even videos is just a few other viable options.
