Well I was looking at a good pair of socks, but one of them had holes at the big toe area. So as I was brought up when I was a kid, holes in my socks were quite common.
I mom at the time, she had passed away July 3rd, 2023, well at the time when I was a kid, I am 66 years old as I write, well anyway as a kid my mom taught me how to sew up holes in socks.
I guess now days, modern kids would just throw away socks with holes or just cut them up for wash rags. Me, I would try to sew up the holes so I can wear the socks again. Of course now days I can afford to just buy new socks, but there is something to sewing up socks with holes, especially since my late mom showed me how to sew up holes in socks.
I guess, sewing up holes in my socks is like keeping the memory of my mom with me, now that my mom is not with me now.
I seem to hold on to things like that. Remembering what my dad taught me when he was with me and remembering what my mom taught me when she was with me. Yes, both my parents have passed on, but I still have those memories.
But let's go back to sewing. You know I hate to use weak thread, I mean thread that breaks. You know a thread that doesn't break too often? Dental floss. I got that from a lady that used to sew and needed very strong thread and she found that dental floss was perfect for that.
Notice the light bulb? You see my mom taught me to put a light bulb down the sock where the holes were and then it would be easy to keep sight of the holes so to sew them up. So yes I sew up my socks with holes with use of a light bulb.
If you never tried sewing up socks without a light bulb you might want to try it. It does make sewing up socks easier.
Let's end with a scripture, as it is written, with Jesus speaking, But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. Matthew 23:11.
