My cat was very old, I think she was around 15 and a half years old. That is pretty old seeing that cats start passing away between 13 and 17 years old.
She was showing signs of dying, not wanting to eat, hiding in places, one day sleeping on me then next day sleeping someplace else.
Well I knew her time was about to be up. She lived a lot longer than my cat I had before her, Sheba is a cat I had from 1997 to 2008, so Sheba lived for about 11 years.
This cat in the picture I picked up from Pets and Pals, a no kill animal shelter. I got her in September of 2012, at that time I think she was about 2 years old or so and the last time I seen her alive was April 4, 2026. I didn't know where she was on Easter day, as I couldn't find her.
Then it was garbage night and about 2 am in the morning 4.6.2026 I wanted to clean out her litter box, and there she was, in the litter box, and I could see she was not breathing, so she died there in the litter box.
So sad, but my cat, her name was Mara at the Pets and Pals animal shelter, but I didn't like that name and I just called her, Kitty.
This picture I used in the blog is a picture of her when she was about 10 years old, I wanted to use a picture of her where she still looked strong.
I believe she had a happy life, in her younger years she climbed trees and tall fences, hunted rats and lizards, but cats get old, just like me, I'm old too. As I write am 67 years old and in my younger years I used to run, but now days I just get up early and walk around the block. My running days are over, but at least I can still walk.
I told my brother that lives with me now, ever since our mom passed away, that I buried my cat. He asked, How do you feel about that? Well, it is sad, but then cats are not supposed to live forever, just like us humans, we too have a time when we will pass away.
What does the scripture say? And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Hebrews 9:27. We all have that time at the end of our lives where we will appear before the judgement seat, and I believe everything we have ever done will be shown before us, the good and the bad.
Hopefully in that time of the judgement, we have repented, accepted Jesus and did the will of the Father. For Jesus did come to save us, we have to accept him, believe in him and do the will of the Father. Jesus also said, If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15. So we have to do what Jesus told us to do, it is written for us in scripture.
So my cat died and though she was about 15 or 16 years old, she was with me for almost 14 years, and I believe she had a good life, and I will miss her.
Let's end with a scripture, as it is written, Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this the whole of man. Ecclesiastes 12:13.
