A picture of my fluffy cat trying to take a nap. Do people take naps now days?
I remember when I used to work for the telephone company, I like to say telephone company cause I worked mostly the same place, it is just that the telephone company I was working for would always change their names. If you want to know those names, it was Pacific Telephone company, Pacific Bell, Pacific Telesis, SBC and I retired when the name was AT&T. Well, these are the names as far as I know, that is.
Well, anyway, I used to work these things called, split shifts. Like say you might go to work in the morning a 8 am and then go home at 12 noon, only to come back at 5 pm and then get to go home at 8 pm. You see you start out at 8 am and would go home for the second time at 8 pm.
Most people didn't want to work a shift like that. I hear some say, I just want to stay until the end and then go home, but I don't want to come to work, then leave for awhile then come back and work some more.
Of course we did get paid a little more for working a shift like that. That is why I wanted to work the split shifts at a certain time in my life, as I can go home do stuff or get an appointment, then right before I had to get back to work, I would take a power nap of sorts, and would know that I got paid a little extra then those that worked a straight 8am to 5pm.
Sometimes for an hour nap, and sometimes for a half hour nap, but after that nap, I was ready to go back to work.
I couldn't imagine doing a split shift without a little nap, or I might find myself yawning doing my customer service.
Of course the office that I was with was a 24 hour office. We had all kinds of different shifts. All of this and our main mission was to get people the phone number that they needed. Of course we only had the numbers that were listed numbers.
So talking to customers for hours was not a physically exhausting job, but it could be mentally draining. Yes, cause sometimes the customer might be angry at something and they might take some of that out on me. And of course spending the work hours like that might be mentally draining. Of course being mentally drained, one might want to take a nap.
I remember watching a Japanese movie with subtitles in English. The one old samurai when out to the enemy at night and brought back a powder gun from an enemy that he killed, then he gave it to the men he was with, now they had an extra weapon. And the young warrior would be in amazement that the old warrior went out and did this thing, but the big battle was coming up and the old warrior took a nap before the big battle.
You see even the old warrior will take advantage of the down time to take a nap and in this case, before a big battle.
Well, my cat does not have to wake up to a big battle, but she is content to take a nap for the present moment.
Let's end with a scripture, as it is written, with Jesus speaking, Come unto me, all that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28.
