This barrel was full of rain water, collected during the rain and at a time we had lots of rain, but we haven't had rain in a bit.
With lots of rain comes lots of grass and weeds. So much that it started to surround my solar panels. Of course tall grass around the solar panels that are on the ground might need some weed whacking, as the tall grass might take sunlight away from the solar panels.
So I pulled out my electric weed whacker, a plug in. It works pretty good and I did make the area a little more manageable. I should have took a picture of that, but I didn't.
So I was doing some weed whacking near this barrel. Like I said, the barrel was full of rain water, but the weed whacker put a couple of holes near the bottom of the barrel.
So as the water is running out, I figure that the water coming out is watering my persimmon tree. That barrel had about 55 gallons of rain water. So the water is not going to waste.
The barrel will not go to waste either. Are there any uses for a barrel that can't hold water anymore, sure. You can now use the barrel that can't hold water, as a storage container to keep things dry.
I put kindling wood in barrels that can no longer hold water. Others might use them for storage of other things.
I do have 4 55 gallon barrels in my garage. That is my emergency water. It is good to have some emergency water, like it is good to have some emergency money. I just have to make sure I don't do any weed whacking near those barrels.
If I were to save water all over again, I might just buy used plastic barrels as those plastic barrels won't rust and cause the barrel to become weak.
I just heard that plastic barrels holding water, have that plastic taste to it. I really don't want to be drinking any plastic tasting water, but it is only for an emergency anyway. Maybe it won't be that bad. Maybe just use the water in plastic barrels as washing water.
Ok, so the weed whacking put holes into one of my barrels holding rain water. May that barrel be used for other services.
Let's end with a scripture, as it is written, Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15.
