The light of the night is the moon, for the moon is the lesser light of the two great lights, the sun being the greater light as mentioned in Genesis. As it is written, And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: the stars also. Genesis 1:16.
It is also written that these lights are in the firmament. As it is written, And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, Genesis 1:17.
So what is the firmament? The firmament is a firm strong dome above us. As it is written, Hast thou with him spread out the sky, strong, as a molten looking glass? Job 37:18.
.
It is written again, And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above. Ezekiel 1:22.
So the firmament, the dome of the earth, is what houses the sun, moon and stars, which are the lights of the firmament, and the firmament is firm and strong as molten looking glass and of the color of terrible crystal. So the firmament sounds very strong.
How strong? Strong enough to hold back the water that is above the heavens. It was the waters that were above that went through the windows of heaven along with the fountains of the broken up deep, that caused the waters to go above all the mountains of earth on this earth.
As it is written, In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. Genesis 7:11.
And the waters went up and covered the mountains. As it is written, Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered. Genesis 7:20.
So the moon is in the firmament and moves through its portals.
Let's end with a scripture, as it is written, Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that above the heavens. Psalm 148:4.
