Camelo Pardalis
By Dayana M Suárez A
Camelo ran quickly and reached the banks of a river where everyone was refreshing themselves.
---- Boys! boys! boys! run for your lives! ---- All frightened ran each one on his side, the goat fled towards the mountains, the zebras, wildebeests and gazelles to the bushes, the hippopotamus to the ponds, all fleeing, running without brakes, suddenly a heron stops his flight and shouts.
---- Stop! Nobody move! ---- instantly everyone stopped, without moving a single eyelash. Then Camelo smiled and shouted to everyone.
----Perfect, we are ready, continue with your rest on the banks of this beautiful and comforting river ---- immediately, everyone returned to cool off, to eat from the bushes, to take a bath.
This happened several times a day, everyone practiced, they were cautious, in the African jungle nothing is known, nothing is certain, everyone had to watch out for the fiercest, those carnivores that would be able to devour them without mercy, for that reason every now and then they did simulation exercises, where everyone participated in a very committed way.
Days before a herd of lions that came from far away, tired, hungry, exhausted from so much drought and nothing to eat, finally saw the light, they had reached a place that gave them hope, they saw a river, this despite being desolate, meant to them that they would soon get food, so hiding in the bushes from afar they decided to wait for their moment.
The afternoon arrived, the animals were tired from so much practice, but night was about to fall, it would soon be time to hide to sleep, but suddenly, just as he had done all day long, Camelo arrived running, with his tongue hanging out, he could hardly get the words out, The herons came out in panic, there was a generalized scare, a stampede of zebras, wildebeests and gazelles, all the birds were frightened and suddenly Camelo fell to the ground, three ferocious lionesses had jumped on him, clinging to his flesh with their fangs. Camelo collapsed on the ground, he could not get up, two other lionesses took advantage of such weakness to pierce his neck, nobody could do anything, until that moment Camelo's life came to an end.
Days before the terrible event, a group of tourists arrived near the river, amazed by so much nature together. A couple who were taking any number of pictures of the river commented among themselves.
---- Jorge, this is extremely beautiful, I will get great images for my advertising work----
----I'm glad you like it honey, I really wanted to see all this scenery, getting out of the city has been a relief from so much stress----
----To think that nature gives us the opportunity to enjoy so much beauty and we get caught up in suffering inside four walls of an office----
-----You're right honey, let's keep enjoying these wonders---- that way they didn't last more than 40 minutes in the place and the whole group left.
The same day that the lions devoured Camelo, a group of men belonging to a local tribe, walked early in the morning until they reached the vicinity of the river, seeing it from afar they decided that it was the right place to place some traps and return the next day. So they did, and when they returned they found Camelo's legs trapped, who actually fell to the ground more than knocked down by the lionesses, because he stumbled when he fell into a hunter's trap, which prevented him from continuing running and falling to the ground to be inevitably devoured.
A day before, authorities from wildlife preservation and care organizations had passed by the place, taking note of the fauna they observed, the level of the river, the state of the vegetation and the humidity of the soil. Unfortunately, they did not see the hunters' trap, which would have been perhaps Camelo's salvation, although we know that in nature the rules of survival are, are and are not discussed, they are simply complied with.
