This morning, Vršac was wrapped in a soft, grey mist — the kind that slows everything down and gives you a few extra quiet breaths before the world starts pulling you in all directions. I stood by the window with a cup of coffee, thinking about today’s prompt: deserve.
It’s a strange word. People often say they deserve happiness, a better job, peace, love… but rarely do they mention how much effort, mess, and failure stand behind the things we truly earn.
As for me, I often feel like I don’t deserve much in advance. I’ve always believed everything has to be earned — good days, recognition, even that tiny bit of calm we’re all chasing like a missing puzzle piece.
But the truth is, we sometimes deserve things without even noticing.
We deserve rest after a long day.
We deserve to be heard.
We deserve a moment of silence.
Sometimes we even deserve to be proud of ourselves — but we forget that part completely.
While taking another sip of my coffee, I realized I might be spending too much time thinking about what I haven’t earned yet, and too little about what I already have.
Maybe I deserve to be kinder to myself.
Maybe we all do — to pause, breathe, and acknowledge that we’ve done something good, even if it was just the smallest step.
Today, I’ll try to deserve my day simply by being present in it. To appreciate the things that usually go unnoticed.
And maybe, just maybe, admit to myself that I have earned this quiet morning before everything begins again.
