Five Minute Freewrite: ferry across the River of Death

Death is something that can strike at any moment, and it is what makes life balance. Life and Death are similar to Yin and Yang, and it’s what creates a balance. I had once thought about whether people who had experience death or know that they are about to die before it even happens.

I had recently watched a series titled “The Sandman”, and his sister was in charge of death. She would always appear to people who had died and take them to the other side. It also got me wondering what if there was a sign, but only they can know.

I still remember the few days I spent with my dad before his death, and trust me, it was only after his death that I realized that he had a sense that he was about to die because he literally prepared almost everything I would need to assist me during his burial.

It was as if he had seen a ferry across the River of Death, and if he had given me any hint, it could have altered his death. So, in order not to do that, I left clues like where he would like to be buried, the elder I need to discuss with regarding burial rites, and so on. All this could be my imagination, but I had a feeling that he was aware of what was about to happen.

I personally believe that there is another side after Life and Death, and we need a ferry to take us across the River of Death to the other side. How long or how far the journey would take, no man knows until we get there.
