Have you heard the saying "dress the way you want to be addressed, or how you dress determines how people address you"? They both mean the same thing. Humans are quick to judge, and the worst part is that they judge based on what they have seen or heard.
On a certain evening, I had just closed out my 8-5 pm job, and I got a call from a friend saying I should meet him at a new bar that had just launched. I am someone who hardly focuses on aesthetics, such as beauty or fashion trends, when it comes to dress, as I was very bad at dressing well. I was simply putting on a formal dress and carrying a laptop, and I thought I would be allowed entry.
On getting to the bar, guess what, I was bounced out because of the way I had dressed, and I felt embarrassed and ashamed. I tried explaining what happened and who I was looking for, but he harassed me, and I had no choice but to leave.
Although another security guard at the entrance hinted to me that it was because of the way I was dressed. I got home, changed, and wore something else that suited the occasion before I was allowedto enter. Ever since then, I have become more aware of what and how I dress, so I don’t get harass.
