I took a course on User Experience to deepen my understanding as a UI/UX designer. User experience is basically the key to everything, as a satisfied customer leads to a lower churn rate and higher loyalty.
I got to understand while taking that course that simplicity is the new complexity even in designs, because designs evolve with time, and only a few would know that no matter how simple a design might look, a look of complexity had occurred underneath.
All this can also be seen in other aspects of life, such as the banking industry, where ATM and money-counting machines have replaced human counting. On the surface, it looks simple, but a lot of complexity has also gone into building both devices.
I personally would always prefer simplicity as the new complexity as long as it provides a better user experience (UX).
