What do they say about kleptomaniacs? Are they often described as unusual people who hurt other humans? Or are they just tagged with a disorder which sets to discriminate them for a lifetime?
Well Kleptomania can be related to compulsive stealing. It is the recurrent inability to resist urges to steal items usually of little value without any consideration.
I'll tell you a short story.

Naya was an 11year old who lived opposite my home. Naya was so pretty and adored by all but all that changed when people noticed that Naya stole petty things even when she didn't need them.
They called her lots of awful names; a thief, a pick pocket, a waste of beauty and so on but the strange thing about this was that Naya never remembered any of the events when she stole. Maybe she kept things that didn't belong to her but never knew how they came about.
When Naya was asked about these things by her parents, she rarely spoke cause of fear of disbelief. Also Naya also had an eating disorder. She ate almost everything she came across even when she didn't like them. This got her parents more worried because they loved their daughter regardless but Naya's actions caused them so much emotional pain.
One day, a physician friend came around and upon entering their home, his wallet fell and he didn't notice. He went on to chat with her parents while Naya picked the wallet. On leaving, he noticed his wallet was missing and after a search it was found in Naya's room. Her parents were so disappointed but when he asked Naya why she kept the wallet to herself and she couldn't speak, her parents had to tell the whole story and her eating disorder too. After a deep thought, he asked them to visit his hospital the next day.
On getting there, Naya was diagnosed with Kleptomania after the doctor stated that she showed comorbid psychiatric symptoms. It was a big hit to her parents as they had felt like they had failed to understand their daughter.
In the course to make her feel loved and safe, they got her gifts and some candies while her mom wrote her a beautiful letter. Naya as a little girl may not have understood fully about her ailment but she was happy with the bond that came alive with her parents.

Note to everyone: Kleptomania is a rare but serious mental health disorder and sometimes we ought to keep a keen eye on people to know what they are battling with. Ask them questions, what makes them pick things, why do they do what they do. Do not discriminate these ones with Kleptomania. They didn't choose to have the disorder.
