He took her to the new club, downtown, "The Grandfather Paradox". It was done up like a gentleman's club, or at least her idea of what a gentleman's club would look like - she'd never been in one. They were met at the door by two smartly dressed bouncers who scanned Jeff's eyeball with a handheld device.
"You can both go in," one of them said, his voice surprisingly light and airy for such a big guy. "Have a lovely evening."
The music hit her like running into a brick wall of sound as the curtain was drawn back and her eyes widened. The dance floor was not as she imagined a gentleman's club. It was a dark pit of swirling colours and people bouncing up and down.
"Good, isn't it?" Jeff said.
She nodded and let him lead her to the bar. The drinks were served without discussion and payment was done through another scan of Jeff's eyeball. She wondered how much this was costing. She didn't think Jeff's salary would be very much.
