No one went to the very north of the island.
"Monsters live there," Zip said. "Ghouls and things that eat your flesh and suck your bones."
Ivan was fascinated by the tales of blood and gore.
"When we are older," he said to Zip. "We should go. I would like to see these evil creatures."
Zip laughed.
"If they see you, you won't live very long. Stay clear of the North." Zip shivered, even in the heat of the midday sun.
But Ivan became obsessed with the thought of monsters and creatures of the darkness. He began to make plans to travel to the North. He would need a map, of course.
And a sword.
No adventurer worth his salt would travel to a place like The Very North without a sword. And he would have to go soon. Before the winter came. For he had heard the North was always cold. Even when the sun was shinning.
So he would need a big coat, too.
