Looking at the facts in the cold light of day - the bright sunshine tore through my sunglasses searing my hungover eyes - the undertaking I had agreed to last night seemed foolhardy to say the least.
"You're not having doubts, are you?" Arnie asked, his pale face wet with sweat. I took a gulp of water to waste some time, give myself some time to think.
"I'd be lying if I said no," I said finally. "It is risky. Not just to me but to my family. And to you too." Arnie held my gaze for a moment. It was me that looked away first. I took another sip. "But I made you a promise," I said. "I'm sure we can make it work. We just need to plan it properly. Make sure it doesn't blow up in our faces."
Arnie smiled and gave me a hug, squeezing me so hard I thought I might vomit. I pushed him away.
"We haven't got time for this, Arnie," I said. "The guards will be looking for you. It won't be long before they find their way to me."
