The car pulled out into the road and she turned around to head towards town. As they sped down the road Dru said, “thanks for doing this. I’m not sure, I’m just not sure I can handle learning what I had done.”
“I don’t envy you going through it but it is going to be an important thing for you. There is a big part of your life that is invisible to you. You know it has had an impact but without knowing what you did you can’t deal with it,” Vivian said as she drove.
“I know but it’s not something I think I really want. It’s easier to not know. I’m afraid of what I might have done,” Dru replied. His hands were wringing in his lap as he stared forwards out the windshield, his eyes unfocused.
“I firmly believe that it’s better to know than to not and it may be extremely hard to go through and to know but in the end it is for the best. You need the closure to that part of your life and you can’t do that without remembering it,” Vivian said.
Dru sat in silence as they got closer to town before finally saying, “I’m not sure I’m strong enough.”
