“You’re more than strong enough, it’s just getting your head to agree.”
“Well, I’ve asked Larry to go through it all and make notes for me, kind of a cliff notes so I can get to the point and not inundate myself all the gory details,” Dru said.
Vivian turned her head and stared at him sharply for a moment before turning back to the road, her voice low and metered she asked, “who? I don’t think that is a good idea. There will likely be too much information all at once. You don’t need to be hurting yourself while trying to help.”
Dru was about to answer when the cafe came into view and Vivian pulled the car into the parking lot and parked. They walked to the front door and Dru held it open for her. They entered into an entry room with a greeter desk and hallways leading off to either side. Vivian told the young woman at the desk her name and soon another young woman was leading them down the right hallway to a small room with a fireplace in the middle and tables around it against the walls. There were only eight tables with half of them filled. They were seated in the corner near a window with a view of the street outside.
Soon a waiter came to their table and took their drink orders then gave them time to decide on their food. They chatted about the look of the place, the various food options on the menu, and the number of people who were seated eating. It wasn’t until after the waiter came back with their drinks and they then ordered their food that Dru felt comfortable enough to continue talking about his life.
“So anyway, I’ve been feeling pretty down for a while now and this was just icing on the cake. I’m still going to read through it but I figure I’ll probably have to delete it once I do. So I won’t be tempted to hold on to it forever.”
