Cast your mind, back to the times afore
When all, that we saw was humanity
Intertwined in deep affinity
When we look at one another's eyes
When our religion was love, and this we shared
In reckless abandon
When we sat side by side in moon lighted nights
Blending our thoughts into beautiful beats
And making melodies out of them
How beautiful we were until now...
Until you decided, that God is-so little
We have to share him
We were happy, until you decided
That we identify God with a name
And the name I have chosen raises the bile in you
So your tongue becomes bitter, each time I call him
Before your ears
Cast your mind back
And you will remember, that we shared the same God
Until we decided to share him
So it makes no difference, if I call him
By the name I chose, or that
Which you have chosen
So why do we draw daggers, over a difference as little As a name?
Cast your mind back and remember
It was out of nothing
But share fondness, that we make new names
For all the things we love
Let this fondness thrill your heart,
When I call him by the name I have chosen
Let it warm my heart,
when you call him with yours
This is the most beautiful form of devotion
When we put our love for the one we worship
First before our differences
This is love, the encapsulation of God.
