Disappointment is the regret caused by a disappointment; a feeling of dissatisfaction that arises when expectations about a desire, event, or person are not met.
Disappointments seem to be an irremediable part of our lives for multiple reasons. People are disappointed in almost anything: business, friends, family, neighbors among others; the reasons for a disappointment in my opinion come from generating false expectations about something or someone, or perhaps because that someone sometimes promises or offers what they cannot fulfill, generating false expectations in a person.
The same thing happens in the professional or work environment, with a project that after being executed does not meet the expectations with which it started, leaving with a feeling of frustration and disappointment at not having achieved the objectives initially set.
Sometimes we ourselves expect a lot from some people who are not able to perform what we are expecting, that is because many times we judge by what we see or hear from people, which apparently generates high expectations in people and in the end end up disappointing the person who believed in him or her.
What can we do in a situation like this? Do we give up believing? I don't think so, I think we should learn to wait for results before getting the idea of what could be, understand that human beings are imperfect, fallen in nature and tend to make mistakes or simply cannot develop the capacity they are supposed to have.
Another thing we can and should do is to try to understand each person in his or her weakness, while on the other hand strive not to disappoint people and try to fulfill what we promise, with the agreements reached in order to strengthen relationships and avoid uncomfortable and unpleasant situations.
Each situation experienced should become a source of learning that helps us to improve our relationships and our own quality of life.
Let me know what you think!
