Being presumptuous refers to the person who tends to show more than what he is or what he has, is the one who although he has nothing wants to make it seem that he has, it can even be the person who wants to show others with arrogance his ogres or belongings.
This attitude is frowned upon and the person who incurs in this practice lacks humility and modesty. It is good to be successful, to achieve achievements and reach goals but it is necessary to maintain humility and not try to show yourself as better than someone else.
In my country there is a saying that goes as follows: "He who does not listen to advice, does not grow old".... This in relation to the advice of a good friend.
Now... Sometimes we can become presumptuous without wanting to or without realizing what we are doing, that is why we must review our actions, we must think very well before acting.
There are people who live on appearance, showing an unreal and non-existent version of themselves, this keeps their ego or their position somewhere for a while but sooner or later the truth comes to light and what they appear for a while falls down to the shame of that person.
There is nothing better than being authentic, being ourselves with our shortcomings or our abundance. But what is the motivation of a presumptuous person? what does he pursue with this? or in what way does it satisfy him?....
There can be many reasons but I think the main one is the search for attention, to be accepted and praised, or to be well seen in some particular circle.
2Corinthians 12:9 "And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may dwell in me."
Like Paul, I think that no matter what you have attained, we are always weak and whatever we have attained we owe to our Lord, so there is nothing we can show for ourselves, but all we have received from HIM.
Let me know what you think!
