All, doing a 5 minute freewrite. Thank you for reading.
The sun was setting over the small town of White Plains. After a long day of work, Gabriel was headed home in his pick-up truck. He had pulled out of the parking lot and was now driving along the highway.
As he drove, he noticed a car driving recklessly in front of him. The driver was weaving in and out of the lanes, and he was traveling much faster than the speed limit. Gabriel knew something was wrong and tried to keep a safe distance between them.
Suddenly, the car in front of him veered off the highway and into a ditch. Gabriel slammed on the brakes and skidded to a stop. He jumped out of his truck and ran to the car. When he reached it, he saw the driver was a young girl, no older than twelve.
Gabriel immediately called for help, but he also noticed that the girl wasn't wearing a safety belt. He quickly unbuckled his own belt and wrapped it around her waist. He then stayed with her until the paramedics arrived.
The paramedics arrived and quickly put the girl on a stretcher and into the ambulance. Gabriel silently thanked them for their help and watched as they drove away. He knew he had done the right thing, and he was glad that he had been there to help the young girl in her time of need.
No matter what life throws at us, we must always remember to put our own safety first. And that night, Gabriel proved this by wearing his safety belt and making sure the young girl was protected too.
