I was reminiscing about the time when I was in secondary school, I was chosen for debate competition.
In other to be at best, I had to study and practice tirelessly for days. Sometimes I stood in front of the mirror in the sitting room and start arguing with my myself to the extent that my siblings thought I was not normal.
After so much practice I was ready to go. On the competition day I dressed like I was the head of the competition. But something suddenly happen, it really rained heavily, and I was wet while going for the competition. And by the time it reached my turn to speak, people started leaving the hall. Only one person was left.
The school security man was the one there. I wanted to leave because I didn't practice day and night just to stand in front of one person. But I didn't told me to still speak.
I presented my points boldly, moved liked I practice and was loud and audible. And after the end the security man clapped well for me.
I Learned something that day. No matter the audience life gives, you must be to speak and not shrink. Just give your best and you might not know what is ahead.
