There are certain estimations which human does that requires the help of statistics based solution towards the question in consideration about our hypothesis.
This article brings to elucidation what ANOVA test is all about and will be narrowed down to the use of statistics package for the social sciences otherwise known as SPSS software, real life application of ANOVA test and it's importance in the society which we live.
What is ANOVA test
ANOVA test is a test that combines different groups to view the one that is significantly different from the groups.
The full form for ANOVA is called analysis of variance.
According to statistics solution, it's proven that some statistical analyst assumed a cause and effect relationship summarizing that there is equally both dependent and independent variable present. It can also be termed control variables.
The ANOVA test is the best kind of test to use when you are conducting experiments. It is due to the fact that it requires nominal scale for the independent variables.
I will like to define what an independent variable signifies.
An independent variable is a variable that aids to provide solutions to the question of the hypothesis. That is the variables that is included in our analysis that can provide an answer to the dependent variable.
Example can we predict the price of ethereum when we know the price of bitcoin?
The price of bitcoin is an independent variable that provides solution to the price of ethereum a dependent variable.
What is a dependent variable
A dependent variable is a variable that needs an answer. It is the variable in question.
Considering the example above, of course you know that the dependent variable is the price of ethereum
Examples of questions that can be answered using ANOVA are
Question one
Considering the different fertilizers applied to same crop (maize) in twelve different states, which is more effective in crop yield?
Now let me explain this better, I am a farmer and in all the thirty six states in Nigeria, there are good soil that aids agriculture.
I intend using one special fertilizer in each state's making a total of thirty six different fertilizers.
The question now is which is more effective in crop yield?
These are the kind of cases where analysis of variance is applied.
Question two
I am a teacher, of course I used to teach after my days in the university before I got a good paying job.
I applied several methods of teaching such as frontal - this involves standing in a class to deliver a lecture to the student.
I also use the personal research method - where I assign students to go and carryout an online research of the study with each presenting thier feedback to the class.
E learning
Where I assign my student to carryout to watch online videos as regards the topic then as them questions.
Blended learning
Here I combine the effort of the student that has carried out the research on the topic, watched videos and also teach and explain to them better.
Guess which I find effective?
I discovered that when the student go and carryout a research on his or her own plus the lecturer also carries out frontal teaching of the subject, the students understands the topic more and it's effective because clarification is solved, questions are answered and doubts are cleared.
Conclusively
This article has focused on the importance of ANOVA test to the real world. In another post I will explain how to carryout one way ANOVA test using SPSS software.
