CUADRÚPEDOS
Allá viene la mula
cojeando de una pata
solo un par de alpargatas
pero esta no recula.
Corriendo viene el caballo
con su lacrin azabache
con su nuevo cambalache
veloz como un rayo.
El burro tristemente
con su carga pesada
con orejas alargadas
viene buscando la suerte.
La cebra medio luto
viene corcobeando
es porque está buscando
a su hermano Canuto.
La vaca comiendo pasto
por la orilla del monte
y en el claro horizonte
el aroma del mastranto.
Los chivos enfilados
como camada de cuernudos
son un poco testarudos
buscando comer un bocado.
QUADRUPEDS
Here comes the mule,
limping on one leg,
wearing only a pair of sandals,
but it doesn't back down.
Running comes the horse,
with its jet-black mane,
with its new gear,
swift as lightning.
The donkey sadly,
with its heavy load,
with elongated ears,
comes looking for luck.
The zebra, half in mourning,
comes bucking,
because it's looking for
its brother Canuto.
The cow grazing
by the edge of the woods,
and on the clear horizon, the scent of wild mint.
The goats lined up
like a herd of horned ones,
are a bit stubborn,
looking for a bite to eat.
