It was Thursday, October 2nd, and I was craving something special for lunch. As I sat in the living room, I thought about one of my favourite dishes "Afang soup". The delicious African delicacy, popular in southern Nigeria, had been on my mind since morning.
I mentioned to my wife that I would love to have Afang soup for lunch, even though we already had rice and stew at home. I didn't think much of it, assuming it was just a passing comment. But little did I know, my wife was paying close attention.
She quietly got up and left the house, leaving me wondering where she was off to. I didn't think to ask, assuming she was just running a quick errand. But as the minutes ticked by, I began to feel a sense of excitement and anticipation.
It wasn't long before my wife returned, carrying a large polythene bag filled with all the ingredients needed to make Afang soup. I couldn't believe my eyes - she had gone to the market to buy everything needed to make my favourite dish.
"Darling, relax" she said with a smile, as she began to unpack the ingredients. "I'm going to prepare a delicious Afang soup for you." I was taken aback by her thoughtful gesture. I felt so loved and appreciated, knowing that she had gone out of her way to make me happy.
I couldn't wait to taste the soup, and I knew it was going to be a truly special meal. As my wife cooked the soup, the aroma filled the entire house, making my stomach growl with anticipation.
Finally, she called me to the table, where a steaming hot bowl of Afang soup awaited me. But that wasn't all, she had also made a batch of garri, a traditional Nigerian staple made from cassava tubers, to accompany the soup.
I was in heaven! As I took my first ball of garri with a delicious soup, I knew that it was going to be a truly unforgettable meal. The flavours were rich and intense, with just the right balance of spices and seasonings. The garri was the perfect accompaniment, adding a nice texture and flavour contrast to the dish.
I was so impressed with my wife's culinary skills, and even more so with her thoughtfulness and love. It was a truly special moment, one that I would cherish forever. As we finished our meal and sat back to relax, I turned to my wife and said, "Thank you for an amazing lunch.
You truly impressed me today! She smiled and replied, "Anytime, my love. I'm always happy to make you happy."
