Hello Hive Friends and Freewriters Family!
I’m so glad to share this story with you today. To my Hive buddies and most especially my beloved Freewriters Family, thank you for always being here to read, support, and inspire. This post is close to my heart because it’s about my journey as a fan of someone who has been a huge part of my life: John Cena.
My Life as a John Cena Fan: A Short Story
It all began back in 2003, when I was a first-year college student. One evening, my father was watching wrestling on TV, and that’s when I first saw John Cena. His energy, charisma, and “Never Give Up” attitude instantly caught my attention. From that day on, I started watching wrestling regularly with my father, and it became our bonding time.
For years, those matches weren’t just about entertainment. They were about family. My father and I cheered together, laughed together, and celebrated Cena’s victories side by side. Wrestling nights became our tradition.
But in July 2025, my father passed away. Suddenly, I found myself watching John Cena’s matches alone. The joy was still there, but the silence beside me was heavy. Wrestling became bittersweet, reminding me of the times we shared.
Then came December 13, 2025—the day John Cena officially retired as a professional wrestler. I felt a wave of sadness that I still carry today. Cena had been my idol for over two decades, and his retirement felt like the closing of a chapter in my life. I miss him, his games, and the excitement he brought to the ring.
Recently, though, I found a way to keep his spirit alive in my everyday life. I ordered some John Cena merch: the iconic “U Can’t C Me” cap and the legendary “The Time Is Now” T-shirt. Last night, I flexed my new gear and took some photos using my phone’s timer. Wearing them made me feel connected again—not just to Cena, but to the memories with my father and the joy wrestling gave me.

Thank you, Hive friends and Freewriters Family, for letting me share this personal journey. John Cena may have retired, but his motto—Never Give Up—continues to inspire me every day. And even though my father is no longer here, the memories we built together through wrestling will always stay alive in my heart.
