Al final de la vía / / At the end of the road
Llegué al final de la vía, un largo y solitario peregrinaje hacia lo desconocido. No había forma de seguir avanzando. Y mientras contemplaba el agreste paisaje ante mis ojos, sentía que habían pasado tan solo 5 minutos desde que empezara el recorrido; aunque llevase la barba crecida y un gran agotamiento.
I reached the end of the road, a long and lonely pilgrimage to the unknown. There was no way to keep going. And as I contemplated the rugged landscape before my eyes, I felt that only 5 minutes had passed since I started the journey; even though I had a long beard and great exhaustion.
Me senté en una roca, era lo más cómodo que había en kilómetros. Acaricié la hierba abatida y árida. Aquí no llegaba ni la lluvia ni el wifi. Respiré profundamente el aire que soplaba a raudales. Bebí agua de mi cantimplora. Giré y descubrí que me esperaba un largo camino de regreso. ¿Vencedor o vencido? No lo sabía, tendría que procesar tantas experiencias vividas. Pero el enanito optimista que habita en mí me decía al oído que lo mejor estaba por venir.
I sat on a rock, it was the most comfortable thing there was for kilometers. I stroked the beaten and arid grass. Here neither the rain nor the wifi arrived. I breathed deeply the wind that blew in gusts. I drank water from my canteen. I turned and discovered that a long way back was waiting for me. Winner or loser? I did not know, I would have to process so many experiences lived. But the optimistic dwarf who lives in me whispered in my ear that the best was yet to come.
Y yo sentía lo mismo, algo se me había pasado por alto, solo por el agotamiento y andar en piloto automático. En el camino de vuelta estaría más atento, no perdería ocasión de experimentar algo inusual o maravilloso que se cruzara por mi camino.
And I felt the same, something had slipped me by, just for the exhaustion and walking on autopilot. On the way back I would be more attentive, I would not miss the opportunity to experience something unusual or wonderful that crossed my path.
