He had gone to the neighbor's house, the one with whom he'd never exchanged more than the occasional "Good morning," when he learned of his mother's death.
He was annoyed by being in a place filled with weeping and snot, knowing that many weren't crying for the deceased but because they were remembering their own dead. It seemed to him a complete lack of respect to be with one dead person mourning another.

Se había acercado a la casa del vecino con el que nunca había cruzado más palabras que un ocasional "Buenos dias" cuando se enteró que había muerto su madre.
Le daba fastidio el estsr en un lugar lleno de llantos y mocos y saber que muchos no lloraban por el difunto de turno sino porque recordaban a sus propios difuntos.
Le parecía una total falta de respeto estar con un muerto llorando a otro.
