Mrs. Ameliè sat in her rocking chair on a Sunday afternoon while sipping her tea, remembering her childhood and how she got to where she was as an adult and all the benefit she has given to different orphanages.
Remembering her childhood the day she arrived at that place after that fateful accident where she lost her family. Nobody looked for her and she ended up there in that house.
At the beginning everything was scary for her because she came from a family where she had her comforts and the school where she attended had many friends, friends that she still doesn't know if they ever were.
As the days went by she got used to the routine of that house, breakfast, school, lunch, school, dinner and a set of activities to teach them for when they had to leave home. Those who acted as surrogate mothers, some of them hard and others maternal, Ameliè had a maternal mother who reminded her of her mother.
They always received donations from different companies, but sometimes it was hard because they didn't arrive on time. Once the need was so great that we discovered that the meat in strips was made from banana peels with all the seasoning that they put on it to make it look like real meat, this meal was accompanied by sautéed cabbage with just a little salt, we even decided to give this prepared food to the bearded man who every night rummaged through the rubbish drums, today he did have a feast because we put the food served on plates so that he wouldn't get confused with the things that were to be thrown away.
All the girls watched as the bearded man smiled as he tasted the food that was prepared for us because the food for the week had not yet arrived.
Ameliè thought that when she becomes a business owner, no child in this home will be without a meal.
Ameliè turned 18 years old in the home, one day her father's lawyers came to her to tell her about the inheritance that her parents had left her...she was surprised to understand what they were explaining to her because Ameliè always excelled in her classes and she liked the business world very much, her readings and books that she got were about business topics.
Ameliè fulfilled her promise, left the home, said goodbye with great pleasure and was grateful to everyone, especially to the one who took care of her as if she were her mother. She improved many services there and never forgot them, she was always aware of them and the new children who arrived there.
That Sunday afternoon tea she remembered every moment she lived after leaving there thinking about the lessons she learned from her experiences there, she smiled when she remembered the bearded man who ate the banana peel meat and cabbage with so much pleasure.
