This is my post for #freewriters 2294 prompt the latest inhabitant hosted by
The latest inhabitant of our home has been coughing for 3 days. My husband has been upset because her coughing has been keeping him awake at night, but he understands she can not help it.
He thinks she has the dreaded COVID, I said I do not think she has it because she has not run a fever or vomited. Now I am in trouble with him because when I got the 2 new living room chairs for Christmas, I changed the living room around and the COVID tests that he ordered were on the bottom shelf of the table by my chair, I cleaned everything off that shelf and now I can not remember where I put the tests.
Last night she was coughing so much and she told me that it was hard for her to breathe and she needed to go to the ER, this sort of thing never happens in the daytime.
We got to the ER and to my surprise, only one other person was waiting to be seen. It did not take them long to see us. Her blood pressure was 138 over 105 and her oxygen was down to 90% and she said her chest felt tight.
They took her right to a room and tried to put the stickers on her to do an EKG, but the stickers kept falling off, then I remembered I gave her Vics Vapor rub for her chest. They washed her chest and then the stickers stuck to her and when the test came back, it was not her heart. Thank you, God.
They did an x-ray of her chest to rule out pneumonia, it was not that. The doctor says she has COPD and was in a flare-up. He told her that she was going to have to quit smoking, and he wanted her to vape, she told him she was not doing that because vaping was bad for you, like cigarettes weren't. He said the reason people were burning their lungs was because they were using oils in the vaping pipe. When we left, I thought she had agreed to Vape.
This morning, she is on the back porch smoking, I tell her to get dressed and I will take her to a Vaping store and buy her what she needs. She says she is not going to vape as she takes another puff and starts coughing. I throw my hands in the air and slam the door shut.
It was 5 O'clock tonight when Walgreens said they had her meds ready to pick up, I brought them there first thing this morning and they did not have one of the medicenes. She told the hospital to use Walgreens, I tried to say not them but she was insistent on using them.
On top of all this, I wake up sick. I hope I did not catch something from the hospital. I do not know how fast the bug can attack, but that would be about 9 hours, I have not been sick in years, maybe it is just a coincidence and I hope it is just a cold.
