This is my post for #freewriters Friday prompt kidney hosted by
When my granddaughter was young, she kept getting sick. It was not until she turned 3 that they found out what the cause was. She had Vesicoureteral reflux. When she would go pee, her urine would go back up to her kidney's. It is not supposed to do this, it is supposed to go from your kidneys to your bladder and not back up.
They did a procedure called Deflux. Deflux is a gel made from two tissue-friendly polysaccharides (types of sugars) – hyaluronic acid (HA) and dextranomer (Dx) – and is used as a tissue bulking agent that is injected around the ureteral opening to prevent urine from flowing back up from the bladder through the ureters. https://www.deflux.com/recurrent-uti-treatment.
The first Deflux treatment failed, which shocked the doctors so they did it a second time. This lasted for several years, but in her early teens, she started having problems again. Her body decided the surgery site was not supposed to be there and started attacking it. The doctor told my daughter that she is what they write medical books about and that this is a very rare complication. This time it worked, she is now 21 and the apple of my eye.
I taught her how to throw a cast net
She can catch fish
She used to run traps with me
I took this picture at the fish house, after graduating she went to school to learn how to be a welder and graduated in top 3 in her class, and she now works for a company building elevators. I am a very proud grandma.
