This is my post for #freewriters Tuesday prompt a new quest hosted by
This no fishing has opened me up to something that I have not had much time for in the past. Yesterday I found the place where I can take my metal detector, and now I have thought of a new quest.
In the middle of our state along the Peace River, people walk out from shore with a shovel and a sieve, they find huge sharks teeth and other fossils by digging in the river.
We do not have a place like that here that I know of. Maybe no one has ever looked for them here. If they can be found up a river that is miles from the ocean, why can't they be up our creek?
We have a large Indian mound up our creek, I am thinking about going to it and digging in the creek. I can not dig in the mound but there are no laws that say I can not dig in the water below it. I am thinking that maybe over time, things have washed down the hill and into the creek.
I do not know if I will find anything or when I will do this, I need to first build a sieve, but since I am pretty much retired, I will give it a try.
I have been picking up pottery, fossils, shark teeth, and arrowheads for at least 40 years. Now I have time to focus on doing it more.
