This is my post for #freewriters Wednesday prompt thick soup hosted by
I ran my traps today and got 225 pigfish, the darn mantis shrimp was still in the trap and he had a death hold on one of the pigfish
I flipped it over and it still would not let go of it.
I flipped it again and it still had it.
Once more I flipped it and shook it but by now I figured the pigfish was dead. Look at the horns by the pliers, that is what he gets you with. I threw him back in the water and as he sunk he still had hold of the pigfish.
I was excited to have so many bait this early in the season. I could not wait to get to Long Point to use them.
I anchored on the south side of Nancy's Creek Canal Island and caught a trout on my first bait. Now I am really excited, bait and fish, it was going to be a good day. I threw another bait and had another one, but it ran toward my boat and I did not get my line tight and lost it.
I fished all of my best places and only caught 1 more. I put in a long day and when I got to the boat ramp, I was so disgusted that I only caught 2 fish and did not want to go to the fish house with that few so I gave them away at the ramp.
In the past, I never used pectin to get my jelly to set. But ever since I have had a glass top stove I can not get it to set. I will cook it down until it looks like a thick soup and it does not set. This is why I started using pectin. My husband says the stove does not get hot enough, I just know that I never had this trouble with my other stove. I know you do canning, do you have a glass top stove, and if so do you have this problem?
