I GOT TO SIT! IN A CHAIR!
Yeah, it was for like 20 minutes so like, not a huge win there but... Still! It's been almost two weeks since I could sit at all so I'm calling that a massive win.
Recovering from surgery is going well. As of today I'm on almost no painkillers, which is nice. Im not a big fan of taking much for pain so the sooner I'm off of these, the better.
I figure at this rate, by the weekend I should be able to get back to sitting in a chair long enough to pound out some actual content about things I enjoy. I miss my blogging a lot (which is why I'm doing a health update) this isn't really what I want to blog about but I'm a few days away from being able to craft the kind of quality blogs I like to put out so this is what we get. 😂
Today wasn't just awesome for my ability to sit though... My boy is turning five soon and today was his future school's Kindergarten orientation day!
For those without almost-school-age kids, the orientation day is their first introduction to school. They get to come in with parents and get introduced to the kindergarten teachers, and then get to spend a couple of hours playing in the classroom and interacting with the other kids.
He LOVED IT. As soon as it was time to play he was the first to dart after the kindergarten teacher and was the only kid to leave us parents in the dust 😂, the rest clung to their parents pretty closely. Which happened after a small like fifteen minute introduction - which is where I got to try out sitting.
It was a big moment for the little guy, and having seen him in a school setting I'm now even more sure that when the fall rolls around and it's time for him to start going regularly, he's going to absolutely crush it.
Beyond that, just before surgery I bought some rad HIVE swag (thanks to the amazing help of who helped me keep things local to Canada). If you follow me on twitter you would have seen these already but I'm reposting them because it's just SUCH NICE STUFF.
I've been wearing the hat a ton, and it's quickly becoming my favourite hat. The hoodie gets less wear since it's pretty warm and this week in Saskatchewan we've been hovering at about 30'c every day which is a teensie bit too hot for the ol' hoodie. It's been nice for evenings though.
Oh! One last random life thing. We watched the Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves movie. It's pretty good! Captures the feel of sitting down at the table to game pretty well, and definitely recreates the dumb antics we get up to and somehow pull off.
I definitely enjoyed it, and hope they make more. I know it didn't make bank at the box office so it's a toss up on if they'll try it again... But, yeah... I was pretty happy with it!
I hope to be back to some gaming posts (both ttrpg and videogame) by next week. Wish me luck that my recovery continues to progress as fast as it has!
Until then my friends, that's all for me today.
