Raw Sewage
Source: Meta AI
Sewage is biodegradable waste produced by humans and other non humans. To me, this is a reminder of how a house sewage compartment.
The raw sewage compartment follows a single pipe down to the soakaway. However, food waste, often considered sewage, goes into the sewage storage device. Refuse such as nylon and pap.er, as well as some sewage materials, are transferred to waste collectors.
Hmm! These days, many Nigerians are converting their soakaways into biogas generators to power their kitchen cooking gas. More so, the old sewage system is still in use, but certain individuals are interested in the new one. However, it is quite expensive.
Sewage can be used to grow maggots to feed fish and hens. Some sewage waste is also used to feed livestock animals such as pigs and goats.
Sewage waste still contains massive energy content, and that is why my parents do not joke with it. Those things we consider waste can be recycled.
Grasses from our surroundings can also be used to feed livestock. Now you see how cool this is..
Ouch! I almost forgot! Sewage is usually liquid waste, so it includes waste from the kitchen basin and bathtub. Because they do not contain faeces, they are often channeled into another compartment of the soakaway, where they can sink. Urea often follows the faeces into the faeces compartment of the soakaway.
This faeces compartment is sealed and fully cemented. However, when this compartment is full, experts are called to drain the faeces away, and this is done in a way that causes less harm to the surroundings.
Too much of sewage or sluge in water can cause microbial growth thereby reducing the oxygen content of the water body. This leads to the death of the animals in the wayer body.
Agriculturists also purchase this waste to serve as manure for their farms; however, I dislike the smell from faeces and all.
A question pops into my mind: what about harmful chemical wastes—aren’t they sewage? I think the proper definition of sewage is that it must be liquid waste. However, from my secondary school days, I have known sewage as biodegradable liquid waste, usually of domestic origin.
