I haven't seen an animal like this very often.
Where I live, they're not common.
The few times I've seen them were in zoos or when visiting relatives in other parts of the world.
As far as I know, these animals are more common in temperate climates and forests of North America, although they can also be found in some regions of Europe and Asia, depending on the species. That's why, for those of us who live far from those environments, seeing them up close isn't something we do every day.
They've always seemed like very special creatures to me.
Intelligent.
Agile.
They pay close attention to everything that occurs around them.
And this photo gives me that same feeling.
Those dark eyes seem to hold calm, observation, and a certain silent reflection.
As if it were thinking before moving.
As if it knew very well that, in nature, surviving also means knowing how to observe, learn, and adapt.
Besides, the contest photo reminded me of a very dear cousin, whom I haven't seen in person for a decade.
He lives in another country, and I haven't been able to travel there.
That image suddenly brought back a wave of nostalgia, the kind that arises when a cherished memory returns unexpectedly.
There's something about this creature that exudes cunning.
And also a serene beauty that's hard to forget. 😊

No he visto muchas veces un animal así.
Donde vivo no son comunes.
Las pocas veces que los he visto fue en zoológicos, o cuando visité a familiares en otras latitudes.
Hasta donde sé, estos animales son más frecuentes en zonas de clima templado y bosques de Norteamérica, aunque también pueden encontrarse en algunas regiones de Europa y Asia, según la especie. Por eso, para quienes vivimos lejos de esos entornos, verlos de cerca no es algo habitual.
Siempre me han parecido criaturas muy especiales.
Inteligentes.
Ágiles.
Están muy atentas a todo lo que ocurre a su alrededor.
Y esta foto me deja esa misma sensación.
Esos ojos oscuros parecen guardar calma, observación, y cierta reflexión silenciosa.
Como si estuviera reflexionando cuidadosamente antes de moverse.
Como si supiera muy bien que, en la naturaleza, sobrevivir también es saber mirar, aprender y adaptarse.
Además, la foto del concurso me ha hecho recordar a un primo muy querido, a quien no veo en persona desde hace ya una década.
Él vive en otro país, y no he podido viajar para allá.
Esa imagen me trajo de golpe un poco de nostalgia, de esa que nace cuando un recuerdo querido vuelve sin avisar.
Hay algo en esta criatura que transmite astucia.
Y también hay una belleza serena que es difícil de olvidar. 😊
